On 12th December, 1914 the 2nd Rifle Brigade battalion of 25 Brigade, 8th Division moved into the front line trenches at Fauquissart near Laventie in France. Joseph Harris was killed on 15th December while still in these trenches but the battalion diary has no record of any casualties on that day. Shell or sniper fire would have been the most likely cause. |
